Lynch Returns, So What?

September 30th, 2009 | by armchair31 |

To start or not to start, that is the question that Bills fans and fantasy football gms are asking themselves.  This Sunday marks the return of starting running back Marshawn Lynch.  Marshawn was serving a three game suspension for his off field troubles during the off season.  In his absence, Fred Jackson was given the opportunity to start and as I predicted earlier, his three game audition went very well.  But what does that now mean for Marshawn Lynch?

Bills fans should see Fred Jackson still get a lot of touches.  I do not see Buffalo making the mistake of going with Lynch after such a  prolonged absence, combined of course with Jackson’s great play.  Fantasy owners should still feel confident about using Fred Jackson.  Lynch appears to be more of the Ricky Williams to Jackson’s Ronnie Brown.  The Bills have made so many mistakes so far this year it would not surprise me to see them start Lynch or significantly cut Jackson’s touches because if there is one thing Bills coaches know how to do, it is to kill a season.  But, at this point, there is no logical way that the Bills don’t go with Jackson for the majority of the game.  The only thing that can change this would be if Lynch is able to break off some long runs, but let’s face it, two years with little of that, so why would he start now.
