Dolphins vs Bills – No-Huddle vs Wildkitty offense
October 2nd, 2009 | by armchair31 |This Sunday Buffalo takes on the dreaded and feared “Wildcat” offense…oh no. Although Buffalo has been hit or miss with their run defense, it is safe to assume that going into this game Buffalo should already know the Dolphins will run the ball. With Starting Qb Chad Pennington out, the Dolphins will start backup Chad Henne, and I doubt they will rely on his unproven arm. Henne is raw and will be tested early and often by the Bills defense. Although Buffalo does not have the most feared pass rush, this was a team that was still able to disrupt Drew Brees enough to cause problems for the always dangerous New Orleans Saints passing attack.
Buffalo has their share of concerns as corner back Leodis McKelvin has officially been transferred to the IR. But, the corner back position is the deepest position on this team and expect to see a lot more of Drayton Florence and Reggie Corner. The biggest test for the Bills will again be on offense, where Terrell Owens and Lee Evans have not been used effectively or even targeted enough to make defenses worried about the Bills passing game. Trent Edwards needs to utilize the vertical game more in order to keep defenses more honest to allow Fred Jackson to hit holes and gain valuable extra yards.
Marshawn, welcome back. For all fantasy owners, do not shy away from Fred Jackson just yet. I will be starting him with confidence this week against the Dolphins. Although Dick Jauron has stated that he would prefer to have both backs split the carries, Marshawn has been sitting far to long to get that kind of work load. Expect Marshawn to come in to spell Jackson on occasion and for short yardage situations. This is a great opportunity for Fred Jackson as he looks to further cement his role as Buffalo’s starting running back. Fred Jackson will again put up good numbers as he runs and catches passes for another 100+ yard game.
Another test for the Bills will be seeing if the offensive line can hold up against several very talented pass rushers on the Miami defense. With Joey Porter and Jason Taylor, the Dolphins have, although aging, two of the best pass rushers in the game today. But, Joey Porter is suffering from a sore hamstring and may not play. The offensive line can only hope this is true as it is already a huge task to stop Jason Taylor.
Ultimately the game does come down to Buffalo’s offense. I fully expect Buffalo to rebound and win this game decisively. The Dolphins get far too much credit for their record last year and are not nearly that good. They were able to surprise opponents with their offense, which this year is no longer surprising anyone. The Dolphins should still be searching for a win after this Sunday as the Bills move back to .500.
