Ok, It’s Safe To Say, This Is Not Terrell’s Fault!
October 6th, 2009 | by armchair31 |Ok, so after giving myself ample time to simmer down from this latest Bills tragedy, I will be posting my take on what happened on Sunday at some point today. A few things I want to touch on before I do though, I still do not believe Miami is that good. The Wildcat offense is nothing special. Miami is a bad team that happened to play a very poorly prepared team. Fred Jackson is a true fantasy running back and should maintain the starting job. Marshawn did not run well on Sunday. I admit he had two really good plays, but Jackson is far more consistent.
My hope is that the Bills don’t decide to shake up the roster in order to get a “spark” by replacing Jackson with Lynch. A few things on this. First, why should the best player so far this season on offense suffer because the rest of the team can’t seem to put it together? Secondly, What is this “spark” that the team keeps looking for? Let’s not forget that Buffalo was looking for this “spark” in the off season when they signed Owens which was a good idea. But then Buffalo got hooked on this notion of a “spark.” They went out and decided that firing their offensive coordinator right before the start of the season was a good idea, because they needed a “spark.” They decided to let their best and most experienced offensive lineman go during the preseason (Langston Walker) because, again, they needed…you guessed it…a “spark.”
Sparks are good, but much like a dead car battery, even if you get it going again you will still need to replace it. Buffalo needs to stop searching for this “spark” and start looking for long term solutions. Marv Levy was brought in to help rebuild this franchise. He did an admirable job, although not every move was golden, most were solid. How Russ Brandon, Ralph Wilson, and Dick Jauron have single handily taken a really good blue print and ruined it completely I will never understand. Did Buffalo really think they could replace their entire offensive line with brand new players with zero to very little experience as well as their offensive coordinator and introduce a new offense all at the same time and think they would have success?
If this team has any hope this year they need to ride the Jackson train for as long as it is willing to run. I will never stop being a Bills fan, but they are definitely not making it easy on us.
Coming later today I will break down what happened to the Bills against the Dolphins and why it happened, so look for that later today.
