In The Words Of The Donald…You’re Fired!

January 4th, 2010 | by armchair31 |

There is news out of Buffalo that the entire coaching staff has been let go.  Not just a few coaches; all of them.  Buffalo has sent a clear message that they will finally follow through with what they had said when they first let Dick Jauron go, that no coach is safe.  Buffalo is looking to rebuild and would like the incoming coach to decide who they would feel would best help the Buffalo Bills return to their past glory.

New GM Buddy Nix has reiterated the desires of Owner Ralph Wilson in saying e would like to hire a coach with previous NFL coaching experience.  Bill Cowher and Brian Billick are names that have been thrown around, but several high profile coordinators may be in the mix as well if an established coach can’t be brought in.  The allure of a coach being able to hire their own staff and not have to keep anyone will certainly be appealing and can only help the Bills as they attempt to lure an established coach to Buffalo.

Although Perry Fewell did do an admirable job in replacing Dick Jauron, he was let go and will have to go through the interview process in order to keep either of the jobs he kept during this past season.  Buffalo has finally made the a bigger splash than any free agent signing could ever make, and has sent a message to the entire Bills organization and it’s fans; we are serious about getting back to respectability.

Some coaches might be missed as coach Bobby April has been an above average special teams coordinator since before Dick Jauron.  Although this was his first season where the special teams play was not up to his usual standard, he suffers the same fate as the rest of the coaches as they have all been held accountable for the product that took to the field over the last three seasons, but especially for this season.
